David Byrne at Radio City Music Hall

Last night was possibly the best concert I’ve ever seen. David Byrne is a great musician, a first-rate showman, and very classy man. And he can still sing better than almost anyone else out there.

Approximate set list, if you dare to jump:

Strange Overtones
I Zimbra
One Fine Day
Help Me Somebody
Houses In Motion
My Big Nurse
My Big Hands (Fall Through The Cracks)
Poor Boy
Life Is Long
The River
Crosseyed and Painless
Born Under Punches
Once In A Lifetime
Life During Wartime
I Feel My Stuff

Enc. 1
Take Me To The River
The Great Curve

Enc. 2
Burning Down The House

Enc. 3
Everything That Happens

The crowd was pretty good, sitting (with a few notable exceptions, and after a standing ovation when Byrne and the performers first stepped onstage) for the first part of the show, and then leapt to their feet for ‘Houses In Motion.’ By the time they kicked into the intro to ‘Crosseyed’ everyone was up and pretty much stayed that way.

It’s also worth noting the Stop Making Sense dance moves on ‘Life During Wartime’ were lovely.

Check out pictures, and comments from hipsters, at Brooklyn Vegan. I don’t live in Park Slope, by the way. Ha, ha, ha. (That is actually how I laugh.)
